[ACCI-CAVIE] The 5th edition of the African Day of Economic Intelligence (JAIE2022) will take place on August 3 under the theme “Monitoring and Information War in Africa” on a distance and face-to-face basis from the Yaoundé Conference Centre. Beyond its burning topicality, the purpose of this day is of critical importance for actors operating in Africa.
It is in “The Art of War” that in 512, before our era, Sun Tzu theorized deception, “total war of lies”, which swells before our eyes, borrowing in the format of infox or fake news. In every epoch and for every society, disinformation mixes rumour, influence operations, manipulation, propaganda, conspiracy theories, for a specific purpose.
“Infox” or “fake news”
There are also unintended errors that can be made by any bona fide user. Thus, with a deliberate or unintentional toxic load, information is transformed into “infox” or “fake news” with serious consequences for the performance and strategic positioning of companies and states.
By becoming the largest public square in the world, the internet has amplified this phenomenon, the lack of trust has boosted it, social networks have democratized it and technological innovation has taken on the task of reducing the gap between true and false.
Action Reflection
The African Days of Economic Intelligence (JAIE) express the will of the African Centre for Competitive Intelligence (ACCI) to put the information right, clear, fast and secure at the heart of the decision-making process of public and private actors operating on the African continent.
JAIE is an integrated action reflection platform whose ultimate effect is to increase competitiveness in Africa through the provision of high value-added information in decision-making. The 5th edition of JAIE will be held on a distance and face-to-face basis on August 03, 2023 under the theme of monitoring and information war in Africa.
Build capacity
One of the missions of the African Centre for Competitive Intelligence is to promote critical thinking among its community of experts and its partners in order to protect them from fake news and the resulting consequences.
Hence the need to act to strengthen the capacities of public and private actors present in Africa through intelligent, robust and easy-to-use detection and dam techniques after dedicated training. This is the main goal of this 5th edition of the JAIE that will be celebrated at the Yaoundé Conference Centre.
