[ACCI-CAVIE] Huawei Technologies, a Chinese tech giant, has set to invest over $300 million in Africa’s data centers and cyber security industries.

The company, which focuses on data center infrastructure innovation, is at the forefront of the development of technologies to process large and diverse computing power in data centers and support enterprises against cyber threats. David Wang, President of the Enterprise BG, Chairman of the ICT Infrastructure Management Board, and Executive Director of the Board of Huawei announced this new investment news. Wang was speaking at the 5th Industry Digital Transformation Conference at the Barcelona, Spain, 2023 Mobile World Congress. He used the opportunity to discuss the company’s strategy, highlighting how digital technologies are anticipated to have an ever-growing impact on everything from the growth of the global economy to diverse cultures, society, and the environment in the future.

“Based on the requirements and pain points of enterprise network management efficiency, connection experience, data center (DC) security, and computing power, we have rolled out a new series of advanced solutions to simplify these networks, with which DCs can build a solid network foundation, leading to the development of new DCs, and unleashing digital innovation,” said Wang.

The best way to help industries in going digital, according to Wang, is through digital technology. He stated that Huawei will concentrate on cloud computing, connectivity, and other digital technologies.

The company will also keep encouraging innovation to propel industry digital transformation as organizations on the African continent make further investments in data centers and cyber security, which according to current data could total more than $ 300 million by the end of 2026. Through the solutions that Huawei will provide, the company says that African government offices will also get more efficient and offer a better user experience for public services. Last month, Huawei also invested in the Middle East and South Asia. The company invested $400-million in a cloud region in Saudi Arabia, which will be distributed over the next five years.  Huawei has also partnered with Sinetcom, a domestic leader in IT solutions and a reliable provider of service and high-quality solutions, to launch Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) and Smart Data Center Solutions in Sri Lanka.
