[ACCI-CAVIE] Vice President of the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Kamel Al-Awadi said that Egypt’s aviation system is moving at a steady and strong pace in the right path towards further development and achieving a global breakthrough despite COVID challenges.
His remarks came during his meeting with Pilot Mohamed Manar, Minister of Civil Aviation, met with Kamel Al-Awadi, in the presence of Jihad Al-Faqir, Regional Director of the Safety Department, and Mohamed Lotfy, IATA Regional Director for North Africa.
The meeting dealt with ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Civil Aviation, its subsidiaries and IATA. The developments in the civil aviation sector in Egypt and the region were also reviewed in light of the effects of combating Corona crisis and its negative repercussions on global air traffic, in addition to a number of international issues related to the air transport sector, especially the areas of Security and safety of aviation and airports.
During the meeting, the Minister of Civil Aviation valued the efforts made by the International Air Transport Association, which includes about 290 airlines around the world, representing 83 percent of the global air transport movement, in supporting the aviation sector and its permanent and continuous development.
The Minister of Aviation stressed that this visit reflects the close cooperation between the ministry and the International Air Transport Association, especially with regard to exchanging experiences, training, information and the technical aspect.
For his part, Kamel Al-Awadi, IATA Vice President for the Middle East and Africa, praised the fruitful meeting with the Minister of Civil Aviation, noting that the achievements and great development witnessed by the Egyptian civil aviation sector.
Al-Awadi further highlighted that the continuation of modernization projects despite the challenges of the Corona pandemic “confirms that the aviation system in Egypt is moving at a steady and strong pace in the right way towards further development and achieving a global breakthrough.”
Al-Awadi confirmed that the International Air Transport Association comprehensively supports the plan to develop and modernize the Egyptian aviation sector in various activities.
