[ACCI-CAVIE] AfriTin Mining successfully brought the Namibian Uis tin mine into production in September 2020. Since then, the company has been working to increase production capacity. In Namibia, AfriTin Mining, which completed its fiscal year 2022 as of Feb. 28, 2022, recorded a 70 percent year-over-year increase to 804 tons in tin production at the Uis mine. This was announced in a quarterly and annual production update released on March 29, 2022.
Very satisfactory results
The company managed to exceed its annual production target of 720 tonnes (nameplate capacity) by 12%. It justifies this result by a strong operational performance. Indeed, AfriTin processed a total of 543,601 tons of ore during the year, representing a 55% growth compared to 2021.
“Uis recorded excellent results […] particularly in a context of record tin prices. The company ended the year in a strong financial position that will allow for the rapid deployment of various growth initiatives,” commented Anthony Viljoen, CEO of AfriTin.
It should be noted that the company plans to conduct metallurgical test work in the new year for the extraction of lithium, one of the by-products of the Uis mine, the second being tantalum.
